Main Departments
The Ministry of Local Government and Public Works in Zimbabwe has several key departments responsible for various aspects of local governance and public works. While the exact structure and names of departments may vary, here are some of the main departments within this ministry
Department of Urban Development
Develops and executes urban development and housing policies, regulates land use, promotes affordable housing initiatives, and coordinates urban renewal and redevelopment projects.
Department of Rural Development
Formulates and executes policies for rural development, supports infrastructure development, promotes agricultural growth, and facilitates rural electrification and telecommunications.
Department of Public Works
Manages government property, provides construction and maintenance services for government buildings and infrastructure, and executes public works projects like roads, bridges, and dams.
Department of Local Government
offers technical and financial assistance to local authorities, monitors their performance, fosters intergovernmental relations, and promotes good governance and accountability at the local level.
Traditional Leadership Welfare
Facilitate the establishment, resuscitation, upgrading, selection and appointment of Traditional Leadership.
Department of Provincial Affairs and Devolution
Oversees devolution policies and programs, Coordinates activities of provincial councils and Facilitates authority and resource transfer to local authorities.
Internal Administration
Responsibilities include policy development, budget management, human resources management, procurement and logistics, IT infrastructure maintenance, legal services, and public relations and communications. They also manage the ministry's staff, procurement, logistics, IT infrastructure, legal services, and public outreach.

- Liqour Licensing Board
The Liquor Licensing Board (LLB) in Zimbabwe is responsible for issuing and managing liquor licenses. It operates under the Liquor Act (Chapter 14:12) and has the authority to grant various types of liquor licenses, such as:
- Beer-hall liquor licenses
- Bottle liquor licenses
- Special bottle liquor licenses
- Camp and caravan park liquor licenses
- Casino liquor licenses
- Club liquor licenses
- Hotel liquor licenses
- Hotel (private) liquor licenses
- Night-club liquor licenses
- Park area liquor licenses
- Passenger vessel liquor licenses
- Restaurant (ordinary) liquor licenses
- Restaurant (special) liquor licenses
- Theatre liquor licenses
- Theatre club liquor licenses
- Wholesale liquor licenses
- Wine producer’s liquor licenses
Important Considerations for Liquor License Applications:
Liquor licenses are applied for and issued in terms of the Liquor Act. The application process involves submitting the necessary documentation to the LLB.
Liquor license applications are advertised in the Government Gazette for a period of 14 days before submission.
Obtaining a liquor license can take approximately 8 weeks.
There are various fees associated with liquor license applications, which are outlined in the Liquor Licensing (Fees) Regulations.
